January/February

I find it very hard to maintain this blog. Trust me there are a lot of things that go on, but I have to find the time to sit down and write! I will work on this. One thing that I am definitely learning is how crucial is communication. As I continue to work closely with others around me, differences become very noticeable. Differences as far as preferences, likes, humor, and yes.... communication.

Some people are very direct, some are more discrete. In the past, I admit that I have gravitated towards those who are more like me. (Makes sense right?) Well I'm starting to understand the huge drawbacks by doing so. I am understanding more and more that it's the differences between me and other people that really refine me as a person. So many people blame others for their own responses, but really, we have complete control over how we react. The fact that we react sometimes badly, gives us a glimpse into our real hearts, how much God really has to still change us.

Many people in Cru have told me that truly during their first couple years in the ministry, the Lord really used the time to refine them as people. I have experienced much of this refining over the past couple of years. Truly, I am grateful. I used to look to people to satisfy me and now I understand the role that I have as a daughter of God. He has satisfied everything I could possibly need. So I can go out and serve others, love others without expecting anything in return. Now, it's one thing to understand this concept. It's another thing to do it.

We just had a huge event a couple of days ago on campus called Veritas. It was a chance for Cru to come alongside other campus ministries and host an event where both Christians and Atheists could hear their perspective presented by two college professors, one an Atheist, the other a Christian. It was interesting to hear the Atheist professor speak and try to understand how he got meaning out of life. Many questions were asked by other Christians in the forum in a very respectful way. The same thing happened with the Christian professor. He presented where he gets meaning out of life, and many Athesit/Agnostics posed him questions.

We hosted a follow up event the following night to inspire more discussion. Many people showed up from campus, proving that even in modern times, there still is a yearning to have meaning in this world.

Of course, our hearts were for people through this event to come to Christ. If we truly believe the Bible, then honestly every person's greatest need is that of a Savior. The best thing we can do for someone is introduce him/her to Jesus Christ. This thought reminded me of a video. Enjoy!
